The "International Joint Laboratory of Low-Carbon Built Environment, Ministry of Education" was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2023. With Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology as the leading institution, it is jointly established by internationally renowned research institutions in the fields of underground space environment, low-carbon built environment, and building energy technology, including Umeå University (Sweden), Technical University of Denmark, and National University of Singapore.
The Joint Laboratory boasts a well-structured research and experimental team with high academic qualifications, an international academic background, and a core of young and middle-aged academic backbones. The team consists of 14 professors (including 6 from overseas), 22 associate professors (including 6 from overseas), and 2 laboratory technical and administrative staff. The Joint Laboratory is actively committed to innovation in the fields of underground space environment, low-carbon built environment, intelligent built environment, and their interdisciplinary integration. The college where the laboratory is located has 1 national key cultivation discipline (the discipline of "Heating, Gas Supply, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering"), 1 doctoral program in a second-level discipline, 1 doctoral program in engineering, 1 doctoral program in an interdisciplinary second-level discipline, 2 academic master's programs in second-level disciplines, and 1 professional master's program.
