Prof. Angui Li, Chinese Director of the Laboratory, also serves as Dean of the School of Building Services Science and Engineering at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology and Leader of the national university-level "Underground Space Environment Support" Huang Danian-style Teacher Team (a prestigious national initiative honoring elite university teaching teams in China); he has been selected for key talent programs and honors including Member of the National "Millions of Talents Project", National Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions, recipient of the Ministry of Education's "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program" (First Batch), and recipient of Shaanxi Province's "Special Support Program" for Outstanding Talents (First Batch). Having long dedicated himself to scientific research and teaching in the fields of underground space and building environment technology, Prof. Li has presided over and completed more than 80 projects such as the National Key R&D Program, EU-funded projects, National Natural Science Foundation projects, and technical research on environmental support for major national engineering projects; his remarkable academic achievements include co-publishing over 200 papers indexed in SCI and being listed in Elsevier's "China Highly Cited Researchers" ranking, publishing 7 monographs in both Chinese and English (with his research outcomes incorporated into 12 domestic and international standards/guidelines), holding more than 100 authorized invention patents, and winning 2 Second Prizes of the National Technology Invention Award (ranked 1st), 5 First Prizes at the provincial and ministerial levels (ranked 1st), and the Innovation Award from the World Sustainable Energy Technologies Association for his research accumulations.

Prof. Thomas Olofsson, Foreign Co-Director of the Laboratory, is Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University (Sweden), recipient of the Swedish National Award for Sustainable Development, and has consecutively earned honors such as the title of Västerbotten Climate Ambassador of Sweden, among other accolades. He mainly engages in research on building energy efficiency and intelligent building technologies, having published 205 academic papers with over 2,700 citations on Google Scholar. The building energy consumption calculation software he developed, including EDGAR and TEKLA, is widely used in energy efficiency calculations for residential buildings in Northern Europe. Prof. Olofsson has presided over and completed more than 10 large-scale projects funded by institutions such as the EU Kolarctic CBC (Arctic Project), European Territorial Collaboration/Nord (Northern Europe Regional Cooperation Project), Swedish Research Council (Formas), and Swedish Energy Agency. In addition, he has continuously served as an expert reviewer for multiple research institutions, including the European Commission’s research implementing agencies for the "European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA)" and "European Intelligent Energy Research Program," as well as the Swedish Energy Agency. He also holds concurrent positions as Associate Editor of renowned journals in the field of building indoor environment such as Indoor and Built Environment, and is a board member of organizations including the Nordic and Baltic Council for Building Science, Swedish Council for Building Science, and Northern Sweden Branch of the Swedish Association of Urban Planners.
